Navodya in to World Youth Championship

Navodya Sankalpa of Mahinda College Galle clocked an impressive 53.72 seconds to win the boys under-18 400m hurdles at the Junior National Athletics championship continued at Diyagama yesterday and qualified for the IAAF World Youth Championship (WYC).

The qualifying time was 54.75 seconds and with Navodya achieving the mark he is the second Sri Lankan athlete to qualify for the world showpiece along with Asmika Herath (2000m Steeplechase) on day one.
