Niroshan ,Madrika win Race Walking titles
Niroshan Appuhamy and Kalhari Madrika clinch men and women title at the Race Walking championship of the National Sports Festival 2017 held at Kibulawala , Battaramulla on Saturday (17th July) .
The event was organically schedule to held on 27th may at Embilipitiya but it was postponed on eleventh hour due to extreme weather conditions of the country during that time.
Appuhamy representing Western province clocked 1 hours 4.06 seconds while S.S. Dunukara of north Central Province and S.S.Fernando of Western province finished second and third .
In the women’s race, Madrika whose house was affected from floods in last month, clocked one hours 48 minutes 36 seconds to win the race representing Western province beating Dinusha Dilhani and Laxmi Kalyani , both from Southern province.
North Western province and Southern province won the men and women overall championship respectively with Central Province and Western province finishing as runner ups .
