Dulanjali added to the Asian Championship team
High Jumper Dulanjali Ranasinghe has been added to the Sri Lanka team for the forthcoming Asian Athletics Championship to be held in Bhubaneshwar , India from 06th to 09th July.
Dulanjali who could not impressed at last trials, leaped 1.80m at the Kyrgyzstan open Athletics Championship held in last weekend which had helped her to get the qualification at the last minute.
Dulanjali who came to lime light of SL public after she grabbed the gold medal at the South Asian Games 2006 could not repeat her performance there after even though she sealed bronze medal in the 2010 edition of the SAG and came to her near best in 2015 making in to SL South Asian Games team in 2016 too before return to seasonal best of 1.80m at Kyrgyzstan.Her next attempt after 1.80m was 1.85m at Kyrgyzstan open which she failed at finishing second place.
Dulanjali who earlier trained under Dileema Peterson is now trains under YK Kularathne . She is the only high jumper made in to Asian Championship team after SL record holder of the event, Piyangika Madumanthi who participated in the 2009 Asian Athletics Championship.
