Eight Sri Lankan in Action today

Eight Sri Lankan will be action today where Javelin Thrower Dilhani Lekamge will be the only one who is competing in a final at the 22^nd Asian Athletics Championship which is starting at Bhubaneswar, India on Tuesday .

Rookie 400m runner Nirmali Madushika who is going to compete her first senior international competition will be first to open SL campaign here in Bhubaneswar where she will compete in the 400m round one in the morning at 9.35am and if selected for the semi-finals in the afternoon which she is expected to make.

Two male quarter milers, Ajith Premakumara and Dilip Ruwan too will be action in the men’s 400m round one at 10.00am.

Two of the South Asia’s fastest man and woman, Himasha Eashan and Rumeshika Rathnayake together with present SL’s fastest man ,Vinoj Suranjaya de Silva will eye Asian glory in the short sprint at the 100m rounds one in the afternoon which is schedule to be held at 6.15pm and 6.45pm .

High Jumper and team captain Manjula Kumara Wijesekara too will compete in a qualifying round today.

Dilhani Lekamge will eye to repeat her former training partner Nadeeka Lakmali’s 2013 feet in the women’s Javelin throw which is set to start at 7.45pm. Dilhani who is competing her second Asian Athletics Championship will remembered her former senior training partner Nadeeka Lakmali’s silver medal feat in 2013 but she will have to perform atleast 3 metres better than her personal best to finish in the podium .
