Madrika shines with new Race-walking record

| Kalhari Madrika shone above the rest setting up a new meet record in the Race-walking event at the National Youth Sports Festival 2017 held at Anuradhapura yesterday. The 26-year-old representing Kalutara District shattered her own record in the 5000m over-20 women’s event when she clocked 24 minutes and 26 seconds to win. Her earlier record was 25 minutes and 25 seconds which was set in 2015.
The over-20 men’s 10000m Race-walking event was won by S.S. Dunukara of Polonnaruwa District in a time of 48 minutes 50 seconds.

U-20 boys 10000m: 1.HNA Ratnayake (Gampaha) 54:39 sec, 2. CI Somasooriya (Matale) 55.58 sec, 3. Sathsara Wijesinghe (Kalutara) 58.54 sec.
