Another tragedy for Vinoj Suranjaya de Silva
|Sprinter Vinoj Suranjaya de Silva has broken his hand with just month to go for the Asian Championship which has given big blow to Sri Lanka’s Asian Championship team .
De Silva is currently treated at Colombo’s general hospital for fractured right arm which occurred during practices . He clocked 10.27 seconds in the 100m just last month during trials and clocked 20.68 seconds in 200m last year breaking Sugath Thilakarathne’s National record. De Silva was prime contestant of Sri Lanka National Athletics team where he was set to compete in 200M as well was a strong member of 4x100m relay team .
Participation of 4x100m relay team will be now in doubt for Asian Championship where without de Silva and SL’s number one sprinter Himasha Eashan who clock 10.22 seconds in 100m, none has come even close 10.4 seconds in 100m this year .
Last year de Silva suffered from Dengue ahead of Asian Games where he missed out competing in the Asian Games which also resulted in Sri Lanka not sending a 4x100m relay team .
