(VIDEO) Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce backs with record breaking run
|Three time world 100 metre champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce sped to a meet record to win the women’s 100 metres at the Grenada Invitational at the Kirani James Stadium on Saturday. Running for her first 100 metre race of the season, 32 year old mother clocked a meet record 11.20 seconds to win ahead of fellow Jamaican Joneille Smith who equalled the previous meet record of 11.35 for second place. Another Jamaica gayon evans was 4th in 11.46.
Nesta Carter 10.26 seconds for 5th was the best placed in the men’s 100 metres which was won by Greta Britains Adam Gemili in 10.11. Nigel Ellis 10.31, Tyquendo Tracey 10.32 and Julian Forte 10.35 were 6th, 7th and 8th respectively. Jevaughn Minzie 10.35, was second in the men’s 100 “B” race behind Guyana’s Emmanuel Archibald 10.33.
Andrew Riley also sped to a meet record 13.49 seconds to win the men’s 110 meter hurdles with another Jamaican Orlando Bennett 13.66, finishing third.
Megan Simmonds 12.93, was 2nd in the women’s 100 metres hurdles which was won by American Evonne Britton 12.81 seconds. Nikita Tracey 56.10, ended 4th in the women’s 400 metre hurdles which was won by former Jamaican representative Yanique Haye Smith. Smith now running for the Turks and Caicos Islands won in 55.65.
