|South Africa’s Wayde van Niekerk , the 400m world record holder(43.03), defending Olympic and the world Champion visited Bloemfontein Cricket ground in South Africa watch some action from the ongoing ICC Under 19 cricket world cup . Van Niekerk who lives in Bloemfontein said his favorite cricketer is J.P.Duminy and he was never good at cricket as much as running during his early days.

Van Niekerk was injured after he was participated in a celebrity funded rugby match that was sponsored by FC soccer in October 2017 shortafter his world championship win. He unfortunately made an inverted cut and tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). He began treatment immediately after surgery and due to this injury, he was unable to attend any meets during the 2018 and was also out in 2019 struggeling to get back to the form he was in . But he has announced that he is eyeing to defend his Olympic title this year .
