Himasha tests positive for doping
|Former Sri Lanka and South Asia 100m record holder Himasha Eashan tested positive for performance enhancing substances and was given a provisional suspension.
Eashan’s out of competition sample was collected on 26 October at the Narahenpita Army Quarters, Colombo, which has now tested positive for substances which were included in the 2021 World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) prohibited list.
He has been called for a hearing on 15 November at the Sri Lanka Anti-Doping Agency (SLADA) where further inquiries will be carried out before determining further legal proceedings.
This is the second time that Eashan testing positive for a banned substance. The first instance occurred in 2012 when he was a minor and was given one year ban which was brought down to 9 months following an appeal.
