Amesha shines with dual records
|Kandy Girls High School hurdler Amesha Hettiarachchi shone with two new records at the Junior National Athletics Championship at Sugathadasa Stadium Colombo .
In the morning, Amesha clocked 1 minute 1.40 seconds to win the girls’ under-20 400m hurdles. However, she clocked a better time of 1 minute 1.04 seconds during the heats, which was considered a new meet record for the event.
In the afternoon, she then won the 100m hurdles Gold medal clocking 14.86 seconds, which is also a new meet record.
In other events of the day, young long jumper Madushani Herath from Nannapuruwa MV Bibile caught the eye of many with a leap of 5.98m to set a new meet record.

Nadun Bandara of Royal College Colombo – 14.24 seconds in the boys’ under-20 110m hurdles
