Despite lack of facilities Juniors was forced to resident training at Torrington sports hostel after picking the team of over 80 athletes and they had to go through many obstacles since they came to the hostel which did not help them to focus on much important training ahead of South Asian Junior athletics championship .
The junior team had to go through hell due to incompetent management of the junior team by the arrogant team manager Anil Weerasinghe who had been antagonizing the juniors. After Ceylon Today revealed Weerasinghe’s behaviour the other day, he had forced athletes to sign a letter which stated that the reports published in the media were false. But, once the athletes came to know what happened, they had cut out all of their signatures from the letter in protest for misleading them.
Athletes claimed Weerasinghe is taking revenge from them by taking measures to cut water and electricity at the sports hostel as all the other surrounding buildings have water and electricity.
Meanwhile the Indian team too had made complaints about the Sugathadasa hotel not having air condition facilitie
