St. Peter’s outshine the rest
|St. Peter’s College Colombo outshine the Royal College and Athletics powerhouse St. Benedict’s College as they emerge the overall boys champion of the Colombo zonal schools’ athletics championship concluded at Sugathadasa stadium .
Petes collected 158 points while Royal finished second with 96 points. It was ironic that it’s been only an year since former St. Benedict’s head coach ID Premasiri joined with St.Peters’ where Benedict’s who even won number of all island school title finished third behind Peter’s and Royal in a zonal championship while Peter’s emerged as powerful school athletics powerhouse.
Meanwhile Musaeus College Colombo won the overall girls championship with 78 points narrowly beating Gateway College Colombo by 2 points as Gateway finished runner up with 76 points.
Hurdler Shehan Kariyawasam was adjudged under 20 best athlete for his performance of 14 .4 in the 110m hurdle while Gateway triple jumper Randi cooray won the under 20 female best athlete award for her performance of 11.82m .
