Hiruni finishes third in Phoenix half marathon
|Marathoner Hiruni Wijeyrathne clocked the second fastest half marathon time by a Sri Lankan female runner when she finished third in the Mesa-Phoenix half marathon held in Arizona, USA last weekend.
The US based Marathoner clocked 01 hour 14.19 seconds behind Brittney Feivor (1:13.16 seconds) and Rosie Edwards (1:14.13 seconds), her second-best timing in this event.
Hiruni is the Sri Lankan record holder in both the marathon and half marathon, and has now clocked the top four fastest times in a half marathon by a Sri Lankan female athlete.
The distance runner who represented Sri Lanka at the IAAF World Championship 2017, Commonwealth Games 2018 and Asian Games 2018 will now be chasing qualifying standards for the forthcoming IAAF World Championship 2019 and 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
