VIDEO: Aruna , Amasha advance to Semi-finals of World Juniors
|Quarter Miler Aruna Darshana and sprinter Amasha de Silva advanced to the semi-finals of their respective 400m and 100m heats worked off at World Junior athletics championship in Finland on Wednesday (11th). Aruna clocked easy 46.81 seconds in the heat running form 8th lane to win it with easing down as he carries SL hope for their first World junior medal .
Amasha had tough heat as she finished fifth with 11.75 seconds but her time secure her spot in the semi-finals as one of the fastest loser.
Semi-finals of the both events will be worked off tomorrow (12th) with Amasha will compete in the 100m semi-finals which start at 8.30pm while Aruna’s 400m semi-final will be worked off at 10.20pm SL time . Aruna is set to face world junior number one and Jamaican national champion 400m runner Christopher Taylor in the semi-finals.
