Nine Sub 10 seconds guys in action at Shanghai Diamond League
|Nine sub 10 seconds runners including local fan favorite, Su Bingtian , USA’s World Championship silver medalist Christian Coleman and Diamond league champion Noah Lyles will be in action during Shanghai Diamond league 2019 on Saturday, May 18th .
Lyles, the last year’s Diamond league 200M Champion with personal best of 19.67 seconds for the 200m clocked personal best of 9.88 seconds in 100m last year and currently ranked number 5 in the world. Lyles already showed that he is in great form in his impressive anchor leg during the IAAF World Championship last weekend.
For Coleman, this will be his first international competition for 2019 where he ended 2018 with 9.79 seconds, the 7th fastest time of all time.
Su is turning 30 this year but he seems to keep improving as he ended last year clocking fastest time every by real Asian sprinter with 9.92 seconds which equaled the Asian record set by Bahrain’s Nigerian import Femi Ogunode in 2015. Su ran several indoor meets early this year clocking best of 6.47 seconds in Birmingham to win the Müller indoor Grand Prix before joined Chinese 4x100m relay team who finished 4th in the IAAF World Relays last weekend.
The race will also feature another exciting talent with South Africa’s Akani Simbine. Simbine won the Commonwealth Games last year beating Jamaica’s Yohan Blake from lane 9. Simbine’s focus was more on 200m this year where he won the South African Nationals in 200m clocking 20.27 seconds and anchored South African 4x200M team to the Silver medal in IAAF World Relays .
The race will also feature seasoned US sprinters Michael Rodgers, Isiah Young , Jamaica’s Tyquendo Cey, Great Britain’s Reece Prescod and another Chinese sub 10 seconds guy, Asian 200M Champion Xie Zhenye.
