Dr. Lal Ekanayake – New DG of Sports Medicine
|Dr Lal Ekanayake, Sports Physician of the Institute of Sports Medicine, has been appointed Director General of the Institute of Sports Medicine under the Ministry of Sports. He will assume duties on Thursday (20th).
Dr. Ekanayaka is one of the most popular sports physicians among the national athletes. He has received numerous accolades for his amazing service over the years and has become the number one choice of National athletes for medical advice.
Recently he did a tremendous job at the South Asian Games 2019 helping the Sri Lankan contingent overcome the dengue epidemic during their stay in Nepal. Dr. Ekanayaka was seen going from hospital to hospital and spending time (day and night) among the Sri Lankan athletes, while also giving advice and taking measures to safeguard the others from the illness.
His tremendous service during the Games saw all the athletes who were hospitalized – and even admitted to Emergency Care Units when critical – recovering and traveling back to the country safe and sound.
