WATCH:- Tharushi finishes 8th (heat) in Olympic debut (Video)

Tharushi Karunarathne, the young middle-distance runner, did not have an ideal debut in the Olympics. She finished last in her 800m heat with a time of 2 minutes 07.76 seconds. However, she will have another opportunity in the 800m repechage round, which will take place at 2:50 pm on August 3rd.

Karunarathne, who is 19 years old and holds gold medals from the Asian Games and Asian Championships, has a personal best of 2:00.66 seconds. Her qualification for the Olympics 800m event was based on her world ranking.
